Rosalie Sonnenberg August 01, 1941 – March 25, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Rosalie Sonnenberg passed away and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 25, 2019. She was 77 years old. Rosalie Ann Sonnenberg was born August 1st, 1941 in Oakes, ND to Albert and Stella (Reed) Sonnenberg.

Her siblings were LaMoine, Duane, Alberta, and Lila. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oakes. Rosalie graduated high school and attended business classes at Wahpeton State School of Science.

She worked for a short time in Fargo, before returning to Oakes. Rosalie worked in the health care field most of her adult life, 22 of those years as an employee at the Oakes Community Hospital. Rosalie spent much of her off time caring for her parents and doting on her nieces and nephews.

She was a life long member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and was an active member of LWML. Rosalie had a strong faith and love for her savior Jesus Christ. She loved to rock and snuggle babies, attend family gatherings, travel, and help others in any way possible.

She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered for her wit and “Rosie ism’s” and love of butterflies. Her faith was a testament to those who loved her. Mourning her passing are, sister-in-law Ruby Sonnenberg and brother-in-law LeRoy Wolff; her nieces and nephews, Vonnie (Jeff) Schmitz, Fullerton ND, Ron (Beth) Wolff, LeAnn (Jon) Peterson, Steve Wolff, all of Oakes ND.

Their children; Jeremy (Megan) Schmitz, Kelly (Amy) Schmitz, Jake Schmitz, Alicia (Jeff) Krueger, Becca (Jeremy) Tullar, Courtney Wolff, Tayler Wolff, Trey (Lauren) Peterson, & Keaton Peterson. LaMoine’s children: Gary, Alan, Daryl, Colleen, Dean, Marci, Larry, and Jean and their families. Duane’s children: Tim, Terry, Tom, Susie, Candy, Scott and Barry and their families.

Alberta’s children: Robert and Richard (deceased) and their families. Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Lila Wolff, her half siblings LaMoine Sonnenberg, Duane Sonnenberg and Alberta (Sonnenberg) Reed, a sister in law, Leone Sonnenberg and brother in law Percy “Bud” Reed. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 29, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oakes.

Her funeral will be Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church followed by burial at Oakes View Cemetery.
