Rose-Marie Noella Deschambault, 77, of Biddeford Maine, passed away on New Year’s Day 2019 after gracefully handling a year-long illness. She was born December 20, 1941 in Cormier’s Cove, NB to Tilmon and Armezine (Beliveau) LeBlanc and was the youngest of 12. At the age of 16, Rose-Marie moved from New Brunswick, Canada to Saugus, Massachusetts to live closer to siblings and to gain employment.
Rose-Marie was proud to become a United States citizen and sought jobs that would allow flexibility as a working mother, such as the housekeeping she did for 17 years. Beyond that, she spent 10 years each working various positions on a lighting production line at Sylvania and as a certified home healthcare provider. Later in life she obtained her GED and became a licensed hairdresser- which was a dream of hers from a young age.
She was married to Norman St. Laurent from 1960 to 1966 with whom she shares her daughter, Cathie. She was later married to Roland Deschambault from 1970 until 2015, the father to both Keith and Tina. She raised her 3 children in Lynn, MA where she made a home with her then husband, Roland, before retiring and moving to Maine in 2004, closer to her children and grandchildren.
Simply put, she was loved by all who knew her. From her large adoring family to close friends to people she just met, she possessed a certain “je ne sais quoi” that drew people to her. No matter where she was or the challenges she may have been facing at the time, she always had a genuine interest in people and showed them all kindness.
This became especially apparent to her family in the past year as they’d regularly hear from the people she interacted with how much they adored her. It wouldn’t be uncommon to hear, “she’s just wonderful”, “we love her”, “what a great woman” or her family’s favorite: “she’s so cute”! Rose-Marie loved a good laugh, was a hard-worker and valued the simple things in life, like playing cards with friends (rummy was one of her favorites), traveling with her sisters, crocheting, music, dancing (lots of dancing!
), playing with her grandkids (she was great at hide n seek) and visiting her hometown of Memramcook, NB, Canada. She was a shining example of dependability and generosity and had an enviable energy that knew no bounds. She hosted holidays or visited with her family for countless gatherings, graduations and life events- with Thanksgiving (and all the fixings that go with it) being near and dear to her heart.
Yet, of all the things that she enjoyed, there was nothing that compared to the love and passion she had for her family. She dedicated her life to her family and nothing brought her more joy than spending time and creating memories with her children and grandchildren. The ways in which she chose to spend her time created countless memories which are now cherished, lifelong gifts.
Rose has now been reunited with her parents, Armezine and Tilmon LeBlanc, who predeceased her- as well as her brothers Alonzo, Fernand, Louis and Emery LeBlanc. She is survived by her sisters; Florence Bennett, Theresa Bresnahan, Lucille Vautour and Berthe Gallant, as well as her brothers; Eddie, Romeo and Paul LeBlanc. Her children: daughter Catherine Buotte (St.Laurent) and partner Dan Look; son, Keith Deschambault and wife Lexie; daughter, Tina Borsa (Deschambault) and husband Matt; four grandchildren: Taylor, Matt and Sarah Buotte and Natalie Deschambault (who all affectionately call her Nana), and many nieces and nephews.
She also leaves behind beloved friend Jerry Plourde. Visiting Hours will be from 1-3 on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005, followed by a funeral service at 3 in the Hope Chapel. Inurnment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
