Hampton – Rosemary A. Smith, of Hampton, formerly of Monticello, NY, died peacefully on Thursday, March 14, 2019. She was born in New Bedford, MA on January 1, 1939 a daughter of the late William E. and Frances (Nickerson) Athearn. She was a graduate of Colby College and later Drew University, where she received her Master of Divinity Degree.

She went on to become a pastor for several United Methodists Churches, before retiring in 2000 and moving to Hampton. Rosemary was a member of the Hampton United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Woman’s’ group. She was also an active member of P.E.O.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed book clubs, history and the outdoors. Surviving family members include her husband of 52 years Don Smith of Hampton; children, Stephen Smith and his wife Danielle of Webster and Karen Oles and her husband John of Croton-On-Hudson, NY; sister Suzanne Hyman and her husband Burton of Bedford and grandchildren, Ryan, Alexcia, Kristen and Kimberly. A service of celebration will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the Hampton United Methodist Church, 525 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842.
