Rosemary’s Obituary Colonial Funeral Home- 2170 Highway 88 Brick, New Jersey 08724 Rosemary Sedlachek, of Normandy Beach, died Saturday, May 25, 2019 at the age of 72 at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center. Her life began on July 27, 1946 in Staten Island, New York, where she was also raised in a large and loving Italian-American family. She attended high school at Notre Dame Academy and enjoyed cheerleading while she was a student there.

Rosemary went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Notre Dame, a women’s college located near Baltimore, Maryland. After graduating, Rosemary worked as an elementary teacher at Our Lady of Mount Carmel – St Benedicta School in Staten Island and at Dun and Bradstreet in Manhattan, but truly cherished the time she spent living in the mountains of Vermont as she pursued her passion for skiing. She and her husband, Bob, met and fell in love at the Jersey Shore and they were blessed with three children.

Rosemary chose to stay at home while she raised her children at their home in Colts Neck. In retirement years, she and Bob returned to the Jersey Shore, to her long-time family home in Normandy Beach and they lived out their days hosting lively dinners for family and friends, taking in the quiet winters, playing with their grandchildren and enjoying the beauty of a town she had loved from age nine. What mattered most to Rosemary was the love she had for her family, who she put above all else and loved unconditionally.

Those who knew her, knew Rosemary to be kind, patient, fair, caring and often in the midst of solving the New York Times crossword, which she looked forward to daily. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her. She is survived by her two daughters Catherine Ellis and her husband Christopher of Middletown, and Lauren Dunne and her husband Stephen of Little Silver; her son Robert Sedlachek of Tempe, Arizona; her brothers Joseph Conti and his wife Dorothy of Alexandria, Virginia, Salvatore Conti and his wife Susie of Austin, Texas, and Richard Conti and his husband Steve of Albany, New York; her sister Sandra Conti of Sea Girt; her two grandsons Luke and Jack and 7 nieces and nephews.

She is pre-deceased by her husband Robert Sedlachek, her parents Joseph and Santa Conti, her brother Bill Conti and granddaughter Evangeline. Visitation will be offered on Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88 in Brick. A funeral mass will be said on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Church, 751 Main Avenue in Bay Head.

Cremation will be held privately.
