Roy’s Obituary Roy Francis Holaway, 87 years old, surrounded by his wife and children singing his favorite gospel hymns walked in the door of his heavenly home and into his Savior’s wide-open arms at 11:11 PM on Friday, April 26, 2019. Roy was born at home on January 3, 1932, in Tucson, Arizona, to Francis Owen and Anna. Roy met his sweetheart, Joan, in junior high.

They married 67 years ago on September 25, 1951. Together they had 6 children and 6 children-in-law. They were privileged to share their love and home with over a dozen foster children, as well.

They have 23 grandchildren, 17 grandchildren-in-law, and 43 great-grandchildren…and counting. Roy went to work for his father-in-law, Gene Settlemire, at Arizona Cash Register in 1952. In 1969, he branched out on his own and started Copperstate Cash Register Company in the Valley.

Everything sounds so easy, but that was not always so. In 1955, Roy contracted Bulbar polio, which was 99% fatal, leaving his earthly body riddled with health complications. Miraculously surviving this devastating disease, Roy learned to depend on Jesus.

Though he trusted Jesus as his Savior as a young boy, this experience caused Him to rely on God’s Amazing Grace and point his family to a legacy of Jesus’ love. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made designated to the AWANA children’s ministries of New Life Community Church and the Iglesia Bíblica de Tepic, Mexico.
