Roy Marshall Barker, Sr., age 88, of Rogersville, went to be with Jesus and the angels on Friday, January 25, 2019, with his family by his side. He was a son of the late Parley and Livie Alvis Barker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Lelia Mae Russell Barker; brothers, Earl and Robert Barker; and sister, Eileen McClanahan.

Roy was a Korean War veteran, while serving in the Army as a frontline medic. He was an avid sportsman, where he enjoyed fishing, and hunting. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.

He was their biggest fan! Survivors include his loving daughters, Karen Barker Russell, and Olivia McMillan and husband Dennis; son, Marshall Barker and wife Debbie; six grandchildren, Tiffany Mullins and husband Scottie, Kendra Russell, Daniel McMillan and wife Amy, Brian McMillan and wife Heather, Wesley Barker and wife Tracey, and Geri Babb and husband Sam; ten great grandchildren, Jackson, Mason, and Maggie Mae Barker, Braxton, and Addie Babb, Emilyn, Everette, and Ean McMillan, and Paisley and Kennedy McMillan. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Monday, January 28, 2019, at Christian-Sells Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Jonathan Carver and Rev.

Gary Matthews officiating. The graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday in the Barker Family Cemetery. Military honors will be rendered by the Hawkins County Color Guard.
