Obituary for Ruby Evans Shumate RUBY EVANS SHUMATE, age 86, of Jefferson City, TN passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Jefferson City Health and Rehab where she had been a resident for the last seven years with dementia. Ruby was a member of Talbott Baptist Church and worked at Standard Knitting Mills for many years. Preceded in death by husband of 67 years, Frank L. Shumate; parents, Willie and Nelle Evans, and brother, Johnny Evans.

She is survived by her sisters, Helen J. Evans of Talbott, TN, Della C. Eckel of Rutledge, TN, Ann Dean of Seaford, Delaware, Mildred Watson of Talbott, TN, Joyce Johnson of Talbott, TN; brother, Charlie Evans of Athens, TN; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Farrar Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Henegar officiating.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service. Family and friends will gather at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at Jefferson Memorial Gardens for a 1:00 p.m. graveside interment service. The family wishes to thank all the staff that helped with Ruby at Jefferson City Health and Rehab and Caris Hospice.
