Russell Jeter was born May 8, 1944 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania the son of Ellen and James Jeter and the baby brother of seven siblings. His parents moved to Chicago when he was about seven years old. He attended an elementary school in Chicago and graduated form Dunbar in 1961.

Russell was drafted into the military and faithfully served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. He then married Fannie French in April 1971, which produced one daughter, Stephanie. The two were married for thirty two years and lived in a suburb of Chicago.

He began his career at western Electric and then continued at Milwaukee Railroad. where he retired. He was very active in hi community by serving many years on the village board and was known for his outspokenness regarding what was best for his community.

Russell left us on February 8, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents Ellen and James Jeter, as well as all his siblings; Alberta, Cornelia, Corrie, Albert, Annie, and Nettie. He leaves behind 3 daughters; Doretha, Stephanie, and Dominique, grandchildren Russell and Jalen and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Saturday February 16, 2019 in the Draper Funeral Home at 11:00 am with Elder William Bass officiating. Burial will take place at the Veteran’s Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
