Obituary for Ruth Dorman Murphy OWLS HEAD – Ruth Dorman Murphy, 88, went to be with her Lord on June 2, 2018, after an extended illness. She died at the Owl’s Head home of her beloved sister, Margaret McKusic, where she had lived for the last eight years. Born in Rockland, November 3, 1929, Ruth grew up in Rockland and graduated from Rockland High School, class of 1948.

She married Gerald E. Murphy on February 10, 1951, and they eventually moved to the Washington, DC/Maryland area where she worked for the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company until her retirement in 1984. At that time she returned to Owl’s Head and enjoyed her retirement years back by the ocean. Ruth was a member of Littlefield Memorial Baptist Church and was an active member of the American Baptist Missions Society.

She also remained active with the Telephone Company Pioneers retirement group for many years. Ruth was married to the love of her life, Gerald E. Murphy, until his death I 1983. She was predeceased by her brother, Kendrick Dorman and her sister Miriam Caldwell.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Steve Partridge of Barrington, RI; her granddaughters and husband, Christine and Drew Sauder of Chadds Ford, PA; and grandson and wife, Jason and Jamie Partridge of Barrington, RI as well as her five great-grandchildren, Jacob, Abby, Ben and David Sauder and James Partridge. She also leaves many cherished nieces and nephews. Ruth’s memorial service and burial will be private.
