Obituary for Mrs. Ruth Dorsey Edwards Ruth Dorsey Edwards, 88, wife of the late Robert Holland “Bob” Edwards, of 1510 Pickens Highway, Walhalla, passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018, at GHS Cottingham Hospice House. A native of West Union, SC, Mrs. Edwards was the daughter of the late George L. Dorsey and Gertrude Lee Dorsey Westmoreland. She was employed by the Oconee County Health Department for over ten years and retired from the family owned business, Edwards Auto Sales.

Mrs. Edwards was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Mrs. Edwards is survived by her sons: Bobby Edwards (Vivian) and Danny Edwards (Sherry) both of Walhalla; grandchildren: Ashley Edwards Taylor (Neal), Bobbie Jean Edwards Shepard (Wells), Natalie Edwards Kish (Chad) and Elizabeth Edwards; seven great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her step-father: Harry G. Westmoreland; brothers: Hugh Dorsey, Bob Dorsey, Stanley Dorsey and Woodrow Dorsey; sisters: Maggie Underwood, Lillie Dorsey and Isabell Moore.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 12, 2018, at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Davenport Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorials be made to Oconee Hospice of the Foothills, GHS Cottingham Hospice House, Attn: Foundation Office, 298 Memorial Drive, Seneca, SC 29672, Collins Children’s Home, 110 Collins Home Drive, Seneca, SC 29672 or Alzheimer’s Association, SC Chapter, 4124 Clemson Blvd.
