Ruth J. Kearney November 25, 1936 – October 15, 2018 Ruth J. Kearney, 81, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Monday, October 15, 2018 at 9:30 pm at Chesterton Manor, Chesterton, Indiana. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN. Private family services will be conducted at a later date in her hometown, Chillicothe, Illinois.

Ruth was born on November 25, 1936 in Chillicothe, Illinois to the late Raymond and Orla (Vincent) Jarrard. On July 17, 1955, she married David Kearney who preceded her. On August 16, 2003, she married Larry R. Tangerman who survives in Michigan City, Indiana.

Also surviving are her son, Rodney (Cathy) Kearney; two grandchildren, Jaime (John) Morford and Jennifer (Shannon) Gayheart; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Hanna Morford, all of Michigan City; her sister, Linda (Don) Stone of Bradford, Illinois; and a host of extended family. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Alice (Jack) McCabe. Ruth was a former member of Evergreen Baptist Church.

She was a talented self-taught artist who enjoyed oil painting and playing the organ. She also enjoyed going to Blue Chip Casino and watching her great grandchildren grow. Ruth was a loving person whose smile could light up a room.
