Obituary of Ruth Howard Ruth Ward Howard, 91, passed away peacefully at her Stockton home on Monday, November 26, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 5, 1927 in Stockton, MD, she was a daughter of the late William and Lillian Fleming Ward. She graduated from Snow Hill High School in 1944 and started work the following day at the U.S.D.A.

in Snow Hill, MD. She married the “love of her life” John “Jack” Howard in 1946 and together they raised their five children. After raising her family, she began her new career as a clerk in the Stockton Post Office in 1969, retiring in 2000, at the age of 73 with 31 years of service.

During her retirement years, she enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds in her beautiful yard and most importantly, nurturing her growing family. She will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who always took care of her family, including her husband until his death in 2015. Mrs. Howard is survived by four daughters, Paula H. Lambertson (Bruce), Pam Howard, Joyce Howard Feetham (Mark) and Jacqueline H. Elliott (Jeff); one son, John C. Howard III (Doreen); eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister Eleanor Austin and many extended family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 70 years, John “Jack” Howard; one brother, Reginald Ward and one sister, Rebecca Cutright. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 2:00PM at the Holloway Funeral Home in Pocomoke City, MD, where family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service. Chaplain Cristina Puig-Lugo, from Coastal Hospice will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Franklin City Cemetery, Greenbackville Road, Stockton, MD. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, P.A., 107 Vine Street, Pocomoke City, MD 21851.
