Private family services are planned for Sammy Ray Lewis. Sammy passed away at Claremore Nursing Home on February 24, 2019, at the age of 92. Sammy was the son of John L. and Ruth Ann (Streeter) Lewis, born January 11, 1927, in Dawson, Oklahoma, which was part of north Tulsa at that time.

He grew up in northeastern Oklahoma, and married Ruth Lockhart. He worked for various employers in the area, including Sequoyah Public Schools, Boeing Aircraft, and Rockwell International; and he also worked with his brothers building homes in the Claremore area. Sammy was a long time member of Faith Baptist Church.

In his spare time he enjoyed buying and selling antiques. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Ruth. Sammy is survived by his son, Kenneth Lewis.
