Obituary for Sandra Franklin August 9, 1948-May 2, 2018 FORT WORTH – Sandra was born Aug. 9, 1948 in Riverside, Calif. to H.H. and Dosha Rhode.

Much of her childhood was spent traveling as an Air Force brat throughout the United States, Holy Lands, Germany, Turkey and Lebanon, and she was very proud of her Air Force affiliations. She continued her travels with the Air Force when she married an airman in 1968 and gave birth to Krista and Lisa in Massachusetts. In 1972, she and her two daughters moved to Fort Worth, Texas, where she eventually met the love of her life, Thomas Franklin.

In that union she gained a son, Tommy, and went on to have her third daughter, Shauna. Sandra spent the majority of her career in the printing industry. She met Thomas while working at Percko Printing and they worked together at other printing companies, including Moody Printing.

Sandra had a deep love for her family and friends. Fond memories were made on family road trips where they often passed the time by singing songs and hymns in four-part harmony. Sandra passed her love for singing on to her children.

Sandra was extremely close to her extended family who were spread across the country and that continued until her passing. Sandra and her lifelong friend, Sharon, enjoyed many years of laughter, often playing dominoes and 42 with their spouses while their children played together. Sandra’s first best friend was her sister, Kathy.

Sandra and Kathy shared innumerable experiences together in their lives. They were one another’s confidante and had a love for one another that is irreplaceable. Sandra’s parents instilled in her a love of God and Jesus Christ and she knew the importance of leading her children in the same way.

Because of her strong values, she strove to create the best possible environment for her blended family. It was obvious to all that she wanted a successful, positive experience for her children and those who parented them with love. Sandra got such joy from her nephews, Nathan, Michael and David.

They, in return, loved their Aunt Sanna who was like a second mother to them. Sandra had many grandchildren that she loved deeply and they were her pride and joy. Preceding her in death are her husband, Thomas Franklin Sr. and parents, Dusty and Dosha Rhode.

Sandra is survived by her sister, Kathy Meredith and husband, Ralph; son, Thomas Franklin Jr. and wife, Melissa; daughters, Krista Spiers and husband Greg; daughter Lisa Little and husband Jerry, Shauna Ceballos and husband, Al; grandchildren, Aaron, Stephanie, Jackson, Cooper, Rhett, Ledger, Vanessa, Elizabeth; and great-grandsons, Scotty and Oliver. She is also survived by her beloved and loyal dog, Rusty. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Sandra Franklin please visit our Sympathy Store.
