Obituary for Doris Elisa Ogden Doris Elisa Ogden, 98 entered into rest May 03, 2018. She entered onto life April 01,1920 to Myrtle and Ben Luckenbach in Menard. She was active in the Methodist Church where she played piano for worship.
After high school graduation, she attended Sul Ross College, Alpine, Texas to study Library Science. She spent many happy weekends exploring the Big Bend area with her professor and classmates. Early 1942, after the attack on Pearl Harbor, she left college and caught the train to Washington D.C. to work in the Pentagon, which was being built one section at a time.
The armed forces moved into each section as it was completed. Doris worked as a secretary to the commander of the Lend Lease Dept. Ben Hill Ogden looked up Doris while she was living in Washington D.C. Ben Hill, a family friend from Brady, was serving in the Navy and stationed in Providence, Rhode Island.
They were married in Brady on May 06, 1945. After honeymooning at Buchanan Dam, where they celebrated VE Day, they returned to Providence until the war ended. They moved home to Texas and lived in Brady and Mason for a short time until Ben Hill’s work moved him to Abilene in 1951 to install the water and sewer at Dyess.
They immediately joined Aldersgate Methodist Church where they were very active. Doris served as president of the Women’s Society of Christian Service (WSCS), Circle chairman in the United Methodist Women (UMW), taught Sunday School, worked the kitchen for Rummage Sale, Manager of Rummage Shop and took responsibility for planning funeral meals for the church. She loved sharing her witness through the church and raising her children in it.
Doris is proceeded in death by her husband Ben Hill Ogden, Parents Ben and Myrtle Luckenbach,and her siblings; Pauline Hadley of Paint Rock, Roger Luckenbach of Fredonia, Helen Donop, Carlita Jordan and Joan Eckert all of Mason. Doris is survived by her Children, Richard Ogden of Abilene, Patricia A. (Patsy)Zahn and Husband George of Euless; Four Grandchildren; Elisa (Zahn) Boltz and Husband, Kyle, Lauren Ogden, George W (Chip) Zahn Jr. and Wife, Marla and Lacy (Ogden) Loosbrock and Husband Mike. Seven Great-Grandchildren; Christopher, Kyle Christopher, Sofia Patricia, Ben Brady, Josiah Matthew, Anisa Fernanda and Isaac Ogden along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at First United Methodist Church, 521 W. Pipeline Rd. , Hurst, TX 76053, Saturday May 05, 2018 at 10:00 pm. Graveside will be held at Live Oak Cemetery, Brady, TX Saturday at 5:00 pm.
