Obituary for William Houle William (“Bill”) Edward Houle, 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 16, 2018, after an extended illness. There, his compassionate companion, D’Ann Graves, of North Richland Hills, Texas, and the caring staff of Kindred Hospice were at his side. Bill was born in Columbus, Wisconsin on April 14, 1937, to Lawrence Elmer and Ansine (née Ibson) Houle.
On November 26, 1960, Bill married Judyth Ann Donaldson in Beloit, Wisconsin at the First Baptist Church. In his youth, he lived in Waterloo then Pewaukee, Wisconsin. Bill then pursued higher education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduating in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
Bill lived in Michigan, Illinois, Colorado, and Wyoming, making close friends at each stop. He returned to Oconomowoc, Wisconsin working for state and local governments. During his retirement, he moved to Arlington, Texas.
In his free time, Bill was an avid reader, who enjoyed crossword puzzles and was a member of multiple chess clubs. He sang with church choirs and participated in the Oconomowoc, Wisconsin American Legion Marching Band playing the baritone horn. He enjoyed genealogy research and living the nomadic life, looking for flea market treasures, visiting friends, family and traveling around the country in his R.V. Bill is survived by his children, Tamara (Randall) Schulz of Rubicon, Wisconsin; Lesa (Rodney) Carew-Jones of Placerville, California; Timothy Allen Houle of Arlington, Texas; Kay Lyn (Jonathan) Strauss of Minneapolis, Minnesota; his seven beloved grandchildren, Rodney Jenkins; Randy Jenkins; Robin (Torre) Jenkins; Rachelle (Tracy) Broecker; Hannah (Michael) Moritz; Raymond Strauss; and Benjamin Strauss; and his cherished great grandchild, Layla Moritz.
Bill is further survived by his brother, Thomas D. (Jeanne née Larson) Houle of Gurnee, Illinois, and his many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and former wife. A celebration of Bill’s life will take place on June 16, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., with a memorial and interment at the Weathersfield Cemetery in Kewanee, Illinois.
Memorial service at First Methodist Church in Mansfield, Texas on May 3, 2018, with Pastor Jim Conner officiating.
