Sandra Joyce Long, 65, of Siloam Springs, AR passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehab. Sandra was born on June 8, 1952 in Siloam Springs, the only daughter of Roy Hewes and Mary Ann Hale Hewes. She married Rick Long on May 22, 1976, who preceded her in death.

Sandra was a positive, loving, godly lady, who was strong in her faith and was a member of the Community Christian Fellowship Church. She taught 1st Grade at Gentry Public Schools for 34 years, being instrumental in teaching many to read. She enjoyed garage sales, finding adventures and was a member of The Super Fun Walking Club.

Above all, her grandchildren were the light of her life. She is survived by three children: Nicholas and Katarina Long of West New York, New Jersey, Sonja and Justin Smith of Siloam Springs, Arkansas and Jennifer and Bryan Brown of Fayetteville, Arkansas; one brother, Larry Hewes and wife Sook of Anchorage, Alaska; four grandchildren Jackson and Magnolia Smith, and Covy and Miles Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Mary Hewes, her husband, Rick Long and two grandchildren, Coltrane and Amaryllis Smith.

Visitation will be held at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Siloam Springs on Monday, April 30, 2018 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral service will be held at the Community Christian Fellowship Church on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 10:00am. Pastor Pat Callahan and Associate Pastor Mark Gumm will officiate the service, with burial being conducted at the Oak Hill Cemetery.
