Obituary for Sandra Steele Gullett Sandra Steele Gullett, 91, of Louisville, Kentucky entered this life on June 10, 1927 in Williamson, West Virginia. She was the loving daughter of the late Jerry K. Steele and Della M. Williams. She and her family moved to Huntington, West Virginia in 1932, remaining there until she completed 6th grade.

Sandra finished high school in Middlesboro, Kentucky and went on to attend the University of North Carolina for a year before transferring to the University of Kentucky, graduating with a degree in Elementary Education in 1949. She married her devoted husband, Dr. Charles E. Gullett, in 1951 as he competed dental school at the University of Louisville. Following her graduation, Sandra taught in the Louisville city and Jefferson County school systems, From 1954 to 1972 she lived in West Liberty, Kentucky, where her husband practiced dentistry with his father and brother.

During these years she raised their three children. In 1972 the family moved back to Louisville, where her husband was professor at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Sandra was passionate and committed in her faith, and was a long-time member of Christ Church United Methodist in Louisville, as well as the Adventurers Sunday school class.

Her interest in history led her to volunteer as a docent at historic Locust Grove for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, including vacations on the shores of Nolin Lake. Sandra had a compassionate and caring heart for all she met,.

She found joy in her family and friends, cherishing celebrations, visits, weddings and birthdays, always with a joyful smile, clever sense of humor and contagious laugh, She loved the underdog and was an encourager for all. She will truly be missed. Sandra is survived by her three children: Lucinda Drescher and her husband, William of Syracuse, New York, Charles Gullett Jr, and his wife, Carol of Lexington, Kentucky, and Anna Lee Morris and her husband William of Simpsonville, Kentucky, She will also be missed by her ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Jerry K. Steele and Della M. Williams, her sisters Wanda Medaris and Jerry Sheehan, both of Danville, Kentucky, and her loving husband of 54 years, Dr. Charles E. Gullett. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, January 5 at 10:00am at Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home located at 12900 Shelbyville Road, Louisville, Kentucky.
