Beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and dear friend went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at the age of 57 years. Sandra was born on September 6, 1961 in Tawas City, to the late William E. and Shirley E. (Schaaf) Goupil. She graduated from Tawas Area High School, the class of 1979.

She went on to attend Central Michigan University. Sandra married James G. Quiel on September 10, 1988; he survives her. She started her career as a clerk for the Flint 68th District Court where she became a court officer and then court supervisor before retiring from the City of Flint after over 30 years of service.

Sandra later returned to the 68th District Court where she worked as a judicial secretary/court recorder for The Honorable Judge Herman Marable, Jr. working there for the last 5 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Saginaw and enjoyed going to art shows, listening to music, and was an avid University of Michigan football fan; often attending several home games a season. Sandra loved her yearly travels to Hilton Head in South Carolina and her time on the beach.

Though her heart was with the ocean, she loved all animals, especially dogs and cherished lending support and comfort to family and friends. Sandra was always helping others and her spirit and generosity touched many lives. Surviving besides her husband of 30 years, James, is her daughter, Kelly Lynn Quiel (Fiancé Zachary Moore), sister Janet (Gregory) Schultz, her sisters-in-laws: Wendie McAllaster, Tammie (Patrick) Gillespie, her nieces and nephews: Steven (Juli) Schultz, Scott Schultz, Christopher McAllaster, Sara McAllaster, Allison Gillespie, Thomas Gillespie, a great-nephew Harrison Schultz, her close friends Chris and Leslie Bautista, her goddaughter Jillian Bautista and many other relatives, friends and numerous adopted friends whom are now family members.

Besides her parents, Sandra was predeceased by her mother-in-law and father-in-law Marlyne and Jerry Quiel, and her sister-in-law Debbie Quiel. Keeping with Sandra’s wishes, a celebration of her life and memory will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Sandra’s name to the American Cancer Society or the ASPCA.
