Sanford Kwail, 85 of Clarkdale, passed away on June 8, 2018 in Phoenix. He was born on June 5, 1933 in Camp Verde to Flora Kinsey. Sanford attended Clarkdale-Jerome school for 11 years.

He served his country as Sergeant in the Marines during the Korean War and received the Korean Service Medal, the U.N. Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Sanford worked for Phelps Dodge Corp. He enjoyed playing guitar and reading.

Sanford was preceded in death by his mother Flora Kwail, daughter Laverne Kwail, sister Susan Poseyeseva and brothers Darrell Kinsey and Wendall Kinsey. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Frances Kwail of Clarkdale’ daughter Cherlynne Kwail of Tucson; brothers Dave Kinsey and John Kinsey both of Clarkdale and sisters Sharon Loring and Garnett Padgett (Tim) both of Clarkdale. Services with military honors were held at Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 10:00am.
