Sarah Ann Gibbs Johnson, 75, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo following a sudden illness. Sarah was born on February 5, 1943 in Nettleton to James Delmer and Mary Delbert Dotson Gibbs. She attended Nettleton schools and later married A.D. Johnson on March 23, 1963.

In her early years, she worked as a seamstress at Glenn Manufacturing, and later she kept as many as 20 children in her home. Sarah loved to read and watch cooking programs especially The Pioneer Woman and Paula Deen. Having a love for cooking, she spent many hours in the kitchen preparing meals for her family; however, she was best known for her banana pudding and she spoiled her grandchildren with butter rolls.

Having a love for the outdoors, she and her husband enjoyed camping frequently in Grenada with their friends, Roy and Joyce Foster. With a deep love and an abiding faith, in God she raised her children in the way of the Lord and was a member of Bethel Apostolic Church. In addition to her cooking, she also enjoyed working word puzzles.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Bethel Apostolic Church in Amory with Bro. Coy Hill and Bro. Stanley Blaylock officiating.

Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery. Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, A.D. Johnson of Amory; 3 daughters, Sarah Joyce Johnson Parker (John) of Amory, Patricia Ann Johnson Burns (Billy) of Ripley, and Pamela Denise Johnson (Pounders) of Olive Branch; 3 sisters, Shirley Bethay, Linda Walls, and Sandra Hill all of the Evergreen Community; 7 grandchildren, John Lance Williams, Michael Shawn Williams, Lamanda Michell Parker Vick, Patricia Nicole Johnson, Robert Wayne Burns, James D. Poole, III, and Mary E. Pounders; 12 great grandchildren, Hunter Williams, Jayliana, Gabriel, and Nora Vick, Mason and Dawson Ketchum, Brooklyn Johnson, Addison, Jordan, and Ella Burns, Braxton Allen, and Caiden Williams; and special friends, Louise Summerford, Stephanie Young, Margie Hill, Andrea Blaylock, Hillary Hutto (Buttercup), Shirley Easter, and Roy and Joyce Foster.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father. Pallbearers will be James D. Poole, III, John Lance Williams, Michael Shawn Williams, Robert Burns, Billy Wayne Burns, and Jesse Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be David Burlison and Roy Foster.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the church and will continue until service time on Wednesday.
