Obituary for Sarah Maxine Montfort Sarah Maxine Montfort of Navarro County went to her heavenly home on October 12, 2018 at the age of 102. Maxine was born in Dallas on July 4, 1916 to L.N. and Sara Mae Terry Oliphant. A life-long homemaker, she was always a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.

Maxine took great pride in her activity with the Daughters of the American Revolution and greatly enjoyed playing bridge with friends at the Kinsloe House. She was also involved in the community as a member of the Rebekahs, the Chatfield First United Methodist Church, and Corsicana First United Methodist Church. She had many loves including all children and was a life-long avid sports fan.

Maxine got great enjoyment from cheering on the Rangers, Mavericks, Stars, and especially her beloved Texas Aggies. She was preceded in death by her parents Sara Mae Terry and L.N. Oliphant; stepmother Grace Oliphant; husband Robert Early Montfort; brother Nugent Oliphant; son-in-law Jodie Libal, and granddaughter Kealy Libal. She is survived by her daughter Sarah Elizabeth “Betsy” Libal of Chatfield: son Robert Terry Montfort of Chatfield; sisters Sylvia Gallo of Austin and Charlotte Mangham of Dallas; sister-in-law Rita Oliphant of Plano; Grandchildren Kim Libal of Corsicana, Kayla Castillo and Martin of Glen Heights, Wade and Evelyn Libal of Chatfield, and Clint and Jima Montfort of Chatfield; eight great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at the New Chatfield Cemetery on Monday, October 15th at 10:00 with Pastor Steve Hayes officiating. To send flowers to the family of Sarah Maxine Montfort, please visit our Heartfelt Sympathies Store.
