On Sunday, February 24, 2019 Scott Huerta passed away in Layton, Utah surrounded by his family as the result of a severe brain injury several years ago. Scott was born on May 25, 1956 to Robert and Sharon Huerta in Ogden, Utah. He attended school in Morgan, Utah.

While in high school he was a member of the Morgan High School football team and graduated in 1975. Throughout his life, Scott shared a love for sports, watching endless hours of football, baseball and basketball with his mother. He was an avid fan of the BYU football team.

Scott enjoyed riding his bike, taking long walks, riding horses and playing the card game of solitaire. He loved playing football, John Wayne movies, National Geographic magazines, family vacations, hunting and fishing and best of all spending time with his family. Scott was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

His favorite calling was being a home teacher and loved attending the temple when he was able. Scott was employed at the cement plant in Devils Slide. He got along well with his co-workers and looked forward to everyday he could go to work.

He was injured on the job but was able to return to work and retire after 25 years. Scott is survived by his father, Bob; sister, Denise (Mark) Kleinfield of Layton, Utah; and brother Mark (Pam) Huerta of Morgan, Utah. He was also uncle to seven nieces and nephews and great uncle to twenty great nieces and nephews.

They loved being with him and he will be missed by them all. He was preceded in death, only three months ago, by his mother, Sharon. “For after much tribulation come the blessings.

Wherefore the day cometh that ye shall be crowned with much glory…” (D&C 58:4) A graveside service will be held Friday, March 1, 2019 at 1 p.m. at the South Morgan Cemetery. A viewing will be held Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Walker Mortuary, 45 West 200 North, Morgan, Utah. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to your favorite charity in Scott’s name.
