Obituary for Scott ‘Scooch” Maienza Scott “Scooch” Maienza, 49 passed away peacefully Saturday, September 29th surrounded by family and friends. Preceded in death by mother, Karen and father Salvatore and grandparents, Billie and Earl Falk, Rosa and Sebastian Maienza. Survived by, daughter Tara Maienza, granddaughter Cali Entingh, sister Lisa (Jim)Chorey, brothers Dann (Ray) and Dave, best friend Howard Roberts and special friend Laura Childress, Uncle “Dad” Bill (Janet “Mom”) Falk, Uncle Alan Falk, Uncle John (Joyce) Falk, Aunt Sally Falk, Uncle Mike (Maria) Maienza, Aunt Connie (Vito) Testaguzza, Aunt Erminia (Bill) Kennard, Aunt Assunta Mercurio, Niece Mia Maienza and many loving cousins who were like sisters and brothers growing up.
Scott, known as Scooch (courtesy of “Otto E” better known as our old bowling alley friend, Mark Evans) or Scotty could light up the room the moment he entered. If you were having a bad day, all you needed was a moment with Scooch! Scooch loved bowling and worked side by side with his Uncle, “Mr Bill” for over 20 years.
You could find Scooch at the bowling alley, the coin shop, taking care of EBAY, or perhaps in Vegas sitting in front of video poker! He probably told you that he was up hundreds of dollars and maybe even threw in a story about “hot chicks” on the Vegas Strip. Scooch was never at a loss for a story!
He vacationed with his siblings many times, to Hilton Head, Cocoa Beach and San Diego. The running joke was that his siblings would fight over who gets to vacation with Scooch! And he would be sure to have a beer or the “Bubba Keg” in his hands at all times.
Scooch had many “brothers from a different mother”, and was a stranger to no one. If you knew Scooch you knew some of these “Scoochisms”: “If I’m up and awake I’m working”, “Shut up B*#ch and go outside”, “Bada Bing”, “Whats uuuuuup” and many quotes from Stepbrothers that are not appropriate for this venue J . Scooch was a valued customer at Lowes to supply his “tool world”.
He never saw a tool he didn’t like! He spent countless hours dragging Howard out to get more tools! He was also obsessed with tennis shoes with over 100 pairs, most still sitting in their original boxes.
And if you ever had a meal with Scooch you knew cheese would be involved! His daily Facebook posts were pictures of burgers dripping with cheese! Scooch loved his dachshunds, Baby, Jake, Binky, Sadie and Maggie.
Maggie was by his side as his beloved companion as he found himself spending more time at home throughout his illness. We have a hole in our hearts but so many wonderful memories that we will cherish. Family will be receiving friends Wednesday, October 3rd from 4-7 with a memorial service immediately following at 7 at Rutherford Funeral Home, 515 High St, Worthington, OH 43085.
