Obituary for Sgt. Karl R. Loesche On August 8, 1939, Sgt. Karl Loesche, from Monroeville, NJ would leave his home and enter into the U.S. Army.

After basic training Karl would return home for a few hours before leaving to the Philippines. No one ever thought it would be the last time they would see their son and brother. On April 9, 1942, the United States surrendered the Bataan Peninsula to the Japanese.

Buried in a U.S. Military Base Cemetery in Manilla, his remains remained unidentified until this year. Karl was the son of Paul and Lucia Loesche, raised in Monroeville, and graduated from Woodstown High School in 1937. He is survived by his brother Richard Loesche and sister, Marion Loesche Atkinson as well as many other nephews, nieces and cousins.
