Sharon Ann Dryer, 72, of South Haven, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the Hanson Hospice House in Stevensville. She was born March 27, 1946 to Edward and Gertrude (Hartman) Moran in Chicago, Illinois. Sharon married Tom Dryer on July 28, 1969.

She obtained Master’s Degrees in Library Science and English from The University of Illinois at Chicago. Sharon taught at Chicago Public Schools where she also served as the school librarian and assistant principal for 35 years before her retirement in 2005. Sharon was an avid reader who loved being a grandma, playing Scrabble and Euchre, and finishing crossword puzzles.

She was a member at St. Basil Catholic Church in South Haven and the AAUW. She is preceded in death along with her parents by a brother – Edward Moran. Sharon is survived by her husband – Tom Dryer of South Haven, sons – Adam (Renee) Dryer of Coloma, Ed (Abby) Dryer of Chicago, grandchildren – Nicholas, Cassidy, Shawn, Jason, Joseph, and Amelia, brother – James (Irene) Moran of Morris, Illinois, sister-in-law – Cathy Moran of Chicago, Illinois.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM EST on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM EST on Friday, May 18, 2018 at the St. Basil Catholic Church with Father Jim Morris officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Sharon’s memory to the AAUW South Haven Branch, Attn: Jan Blaising, 912 Adams Road, South Haven, Michigan 49090.
