Sharon’s Obituary SPARTA – Sharon Fay Smith “Mom”, Loving Mother, and Grandmother, 74, of Sparta passed away at 9:05 AM, Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the Randolph County Care Center in Sparta. Our mom was born on February 4, 1944, in Anna, Illinois to Thomas and Mildred (Hale) Sanders. Mom was raised and went to grade school in Alto Pass, and later moved to Percy and graduated from Trico High School.

Mom married and had three sons, Dennie, Jr., Tommy, and Tracy Smith. Mom later divorced and took on the tough task of raising 3 boys. Our mom did an amazing job all while working full time at World Color Press.

As a kid we always remembered her working, taking whatever hours she could to take care of her boys, and for that we are forever grateful, because she instilled in us her extraordinary work ethic. Mom is survived by her sons; Dennie (Leanne) Smith, of Belleville, Tommy Smith, of Waterloo, Tracy (Tina) Smith, of Sparta, grandchildren; Michael Deutschmann, Sydney, and Reese Smith, Alex and Peyton Smith, Alisha Smith, and one great grandchild; Avery Bishop. Mom is also survived by one sister; Judy Etherton, and one brother; Thomas (Susan) Sanders Mom was preceded in death by father; Thomas Sanders, mother; Mildred Thompson, step father; Loren Thompson.

As one of Sharon’s boys, I am forever grateful that she taught us how to be good men, and most importantly good fathers. Thank you for your unconditional love. It was Sharon’s wished to be cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Wilson’s Funeral Home in Steeleville is assisting the family.
