Obituary for Sherra Lyn Clark Downs Energy, like you, has no beginning and no end. It can never be destroyed. It is only ever shifting states.
– Penache Desai Sherra Lyn Clark Downs chose peace Wednesday, July 18th, surrounded by her family, as her energy shifted states from this world to the next. She, in true Sherra fashion, got her way in the very end in that she did not have to suffer long from the metastasized breast cancer. The last week and a half of her life she spent surround by love, family, pets, and friends in her daughter’s home in Allen, TX.
Her husband, Bradford Scott Downs, stayed by her side, along with her daughter, Krista Witt, Son-in-Law, Christopher Witt, and beloved dog, Pepper. Her pride and joy, her 7 year old granddaughter Jaina Witt, was also able to give her love to the Mamaw who adored her so very much. Her last spoken words were “I love you” to her best friend of 49 years, Pauline McCullough, of Garland, TX.
However, all who knew Sherra still hear her words echo in our memories long after her physical body ceased to support her fiery spirit. In her short 54 years of physical life on this earth, she was many things: A daughter to Brown and Valeria Clark of Sulphur Springs (deceased), a sister to Michael Clark of Weaver (deceased), a mother, grandmother, wife, friend, horseback rider, dog breeder, chicken keeper, cat lover, a cook for an army (or so she thought based on how much she always prepared), a hospital admin secretary, youth group volunteer, a truck driver, once a part time house contractor, and traveler. She had the memory of an elephant, the heart of a giant, and the courage of a lion.
She could never remember that blackberries weren’t called blueberries, and she never cared that her opera singing to narrate her cleaning the house weren’t always appreciated by the rest of the family. Above all she was loving, warm, caring, with a good nature that made it easy for many people to feel comfortable with her. To honor her life and to celebrate her release from pain to be with her passed love ones and beloved pets, there will be a grave side ceremony, per her request, at Weaver Cemetery in Saltillo, TX on Monday, July 23 at 1:00 pm.
She requested that instead of flowers to please make a donation in her memory to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation at www. bcrfcure.org. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Sherra Lyn Clark Downs please visit our Sympathy Store.
