Obituary for Shirley M. Burns Shirley M. Burns, age 83, of Clare, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018, at Horizons Senior Living in Clare. She was born the daughter of Perry and Edna (Bishop) Buckius on August 15, 1934, in Bay City, Michigan. She married William L. Burns on March 21, 1953, and he preceded her in death on Aug 13, 2016.
Shirley was a loyal wife following Bill’s career in the Michigan State Police while she helped raise their four children. Their final move was to Clare from Howell, Mi. in 1966 and later became members of the Clare United Methodist Church.
Shirley was a hard worker and not only worked at a few factories over the years, but also helped on the farm, raised four active children, canned foods, created special memories with her many grandchildren, and supported their 4-H projects. She always loved being with her grand- and great-grandchildren. Shirley enjoyed quilting with her friends in a few quilting groups.
She found great pleasure in crocheting, knitting, and supporting her husband, Bill, on the county and State Fair circuits, collecting autographs from many musical artists that entertained there and the company of their many friends. Shirley always had fun with her sisters and cousin, whom she loved so much and would often join Shirley and Bill at their second home Englewood, Florida during the winters. Shirley is survived by her sisters Joanne Hacker and Deanna (Maynard) Reed ; her children Randy and Cynthia Burns of Belding, Cindy and Jim Latocki of Beaverton, Jeff Burns of Pierson, and Bill Jr. and Christine Burns of Spring Lake; her grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jennifer, Jessica, Randy Jr., Perry, Jamey, Angela, Bradley, and Breanna; and great-grandchildren, Kayla, Ariana, Ahnalee, Natalina, Bentley, Evelynn, Eloise, Esme’, and one more on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William, and daughter-in-law Penny Burns and her parents Perry and Edna Buckius. . Visitation will be held on Friday, Apr.
20, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home (1005 N. McEwan, Clare, Mi. , 48617) and on Saturday from 10 to 11 AM at Clare United Methodist Church, (109 E. Seventh St., Clare, Mi. , 48617) Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 21, at 11:00 AM at the church, with Pastor John Kasper officiating.
Burial will follow in the Cherry Grove Cemetery in Clare. The family would like to extend our gratitude to the Horizon Senior Living in Clare, for their attentiveness and loving care towards our mother. Memorials may be directed to the First Lt.
