OBITUARY Shirley Doan Shockley November 25, 1929 – September 24, 2018 SHIRLEY SHOCKLEY 1929-2018 Born in Memphis, Tennessee, to Margaret (Wilson) and P. Houston Doan, Shirley attended LSU, where she was a Pi Beta Phi. Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband Dorman Shockley, and is survived by her children Renée Davis and Houston Doan Shockley, his wife Jana, and grandchildren Abbey and Houston, the lights of Mimi’s life. Shirley was a member of River Oaks Country Club, The Junior League of Houston, River Oaks Rose Club, Order of St. Lazarus, Tuesday Music Club, Descendants of Early Settlers of Shelby County TN (charter member), Carribbee Dance Club, Board and Foundation Board of St. James House, Advisory Board of Breckenridge (Colorado) Music Institute and was an early supporter of Episcopal High School during its formation.

She was particularly active at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church, serving as Senior Warden of both Associate Vestry and Vestry, on the Altar Guild, and as a lifelong volunteer at The Guild Shop. A memorial service will be held on September 29 at 2 p.m. at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church in Houston TX. The family asks her friends to share their favorite Shirley Stories as the best way to remember what a fun and funny person Shirley was.
