Clear Spring, MD – Shirley Joan Sylvester, 82, of Clear Spring, MD passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Doey’s House Hagerstown, MD. She was born on September 19, 1936 in Friendsville, MD to the late Theodore Jackson and Grace Virginia Teets Thomas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Venecy Sylvester on March 22, 2000.

She was employed by Washington County Hospital until her retirement. Shirley was a member of Hilltop Christian Fellowship Clear Spring, MD. She was a past member of Red Feather Council #59 Degree of Pocahontas IORM Williamsport, MD.

Shirley’s family was her life. She is survived by her son Roy A. Sylvester of Clear Spring, MD; son Russell E. Sylvester and his wife Wanda of Hagerstown, MD; son David L. Sylvester of Williamsport, MD; daughter Sharon V. Green and her husband Tony of Hagerstown, MD; daughter Patricia A. Sylvester and Greg Brown of Williamsport, MD; son Anthony G. “Bucky” Sylvester and his wife Jeanette of Clear Spring, MD; daughter Kimberly S. “Susie” Wolff and Ron Wolff of Hagerstown, MD; sister Deborah Kay Punday of Greencastle, PA; brother James Milton Thomas of Kingwood, WV; 22 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 2 great great granddaughters; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son William Charles “Bill” Sylvester and two sisters Thelma June Shultz and Bonnie Sue Sines.

The family will receive friends at the Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 pm. The funeral home will open at 5:30 pm on Wednesday for the convenience of family and friends. Funeral services will be held at Osborne Funeral Home 425 S. Conococheague St. Williamsport, MD on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 11:00 am with Pastor Brad Selan officiating.

Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park Hagerstown, MD. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Doey’s House and the ICU Staff at Meritus Medical Center for the love and care that was given to our sweet Mother. Memorial donations may be made to: Doey’s House 747 Northern Ave.
