Boardman -Shirley Larson, 93, formerly of Austintown, died Friday morning, May 10, 2019 at her daughter’s home, surrounded by family. Shirley was born February 16, 1926 in Youngstown, a daughter of Roy E. and Pauline D. (Reese) Williams. A lifelong area resident, she was a graduate of South High School and attended Kent State University.

Mrs. Larson worked as a secretary for both Allied Equipment and Plakie Toys, before owning and operating Carolyn Thomas Figure Spalon. Mrs. Larson was a 50-year member of the former Foster Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School and was a member of its Faith, Hope, and Charity Circle. After its closing, she joined the Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, where she enjoyed meeting with her Lunch Bunch.

The Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church recently merged with the Canfield Presbyterian Church. Active in the community, she was involved in the Austintown Schools PTA and served as a former president. Shirley was also a member of the Vasa Club and its Eveready Ladies, where she represented Sweden in the International Building at the Canfield Fair each year.

She was also a member of the South High Alumni, the Mahoning Valley Machine Knitters Guild, the Christian Women’s Bowling League, and enjoyed playing in several card clubs and golf leagues over the years. Her husband, William Larson, whom she married May 6, 1972, preceded her in death in 1997. Shirley is survived by her four children, William (Sharyn) Larson of Poland, Carolyn (Alfred) Kafka of Howell, MI, Diane (Joseph) Ignazio of Boardman, and William (Mary Ann) Christie of Berlin Center; a sister, Louise Webster of Akron; brother-in-law, Don (Carol) Larson of Ft.

Lauderdale, FL; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Larson was preceded in death by her infant brother, Paul Williams; and two grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman, with Pastor Mark Bell officiating.

Interment will follow at the Canfield Cemetery. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 5-7 p.m. and Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Please visit www.
