Shirley Mae (Tibbetts) Dunn, 80, of Cass Lake, Minnesota was surrounded by her family when she went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 25, 2019. She was born to Irene (Thompson) and Elmer Tibbetts, Sr. on June 24, 1938 in Cass Lake, MN. Shirley was born and raised in Cass Lake.

In her younger years, she was named the Leech Lake Princess. She was a great provider for her kids by ricing and netting. Shirley cleaned cabins for years before working at the Leech Lake Federal Credit Union.

She eventually retired from the Cass Lake IHS as the Dietician. Shirley loved cooking, baking and going to the Palace. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her kids and grandkids.

Shirley was known for the great and wise advice she gave to anyone that came to her. She was loved and honored by her family and friends. Family that she is reunited with again are her daughter; Carla Lynn Dunn, her parents; Irene (Thompson) and Elmer Tibbetts, Sr., siblings; Clarice Murphy, Elmer “Gene” Tibbetts, Barbara Maas, Patricia Tibbetts and Warren Tibbetts and several other family members.

She is survived by her children: Jane (Fisher) Valencia, Glen “Tuffy” Fisher, Jr. and Patsy Kay Fisher, ex-husband; John Dunn, very special friend; Stanley Chief, siblings; Norma (Wayne) Knapcyzk, Kenneth, Clyde and Roscoe Tibbetts, 23 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A wake for Shirley will begin at 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 1st and continue until her 11:00 a.m. funeral on Sunday, March 3rd all being held at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN. Father George Ross will officiate.

Pallbearers for Shirley will be Kirby Finn, Pete Maas, Marvin Littlewolf, Tim Connor, Umsy Tibbetts and Rob Finn. Alternate pallbearers are Randy Cloud, Matt Tibbetts, Troy Tibbetts, Travis Tibbetts and Paul Maas. Her honorary pallbearers are Cheryl Dunn, Shirley Fisher-Roybal, Donald Wind, Donnie Headbird, Coco Folstrom, Stan Chief, Sandra Littlewolf, Marion Wind, Karen Wind, Robert Pemberton, Linda Cloud and all of Leech Lake.

Interment will be in the Thompson Family Cemetery at Cass Lake, MN following her Sunday service. Shirley’s care has been entrusted to Northern Peace Funeral Home of Walker. Online condolences for the family may be left at www.
