Ronald Lee “Migizi” Lussier left to begin his journey home on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, surrounded by family. He began his life on this earth on November 18, 1964, spending much of his early life between Minneapolis and Red Lake. But his wanderlust ended when he met his wife of 31 years, Henrietta (Demo) Thompson, marrying her on December 3, 1987 in Minneapolis.

The couple had no children of their own but that did not stop him from carrying for “Etta’s” children as his own. Ronald was the son of Patrick Lussier and Marlene (May) Thompson, both of Red Lake. He worked most of his life as a janitor at the University of Minnesota.

In his spare time, he loved working with wood, making inscribed rocking chairs for family and friends. He also built dressers for many family members. He had a love for family and loved picnics at the lake, fishing, playing football and handball.

Win or lose he was a die-hard Minnesota Viking fan even banning Packer fans from his home. His mechanical abilities were well known and he loved tinkering with a variety of cars. His keen mind made him a formidable chess player.

Ron and Etta spent many summers traveling the United States with their grandchildren. At one time, there were several generations of relatives and in-laws welcomed into Ron and Etta’s home. Those waiting to meet him on the other side include his parents and one aunt, Brenda Turner as well as a step-son, Michael Demo, Sr. and nephews, Allen, Adrian and William Lussier.

Left to mourn his memory include wife “Etta”, step-daughter Lavonne “Bonnie” Lefthand and step-daughter-in law Rosie Roberts; brothers, Tony (Gwenetta) Thompson, Arnold “Pumpkin” Thompson, Mitchell, Frank, and Steve Lussier; and sisters, Lisa Thompson and Debbie Lussier. He leaves behind granddaughters, Nicole Demo and Mikellene Applebee and grandsons, James and Michael Demo, as well as great-grandchildren, Kamille Wilson-Demo and Kaleb and Kosraeah Demo, as well as numerous, nieces, nephews and friends. The family will hold a private inurnment at a later date.

Ronald’s care has been entrusted to the care of Northern Peace Funeral Home of Walker. Online condolences for the family may be left at northernpeace.com.
