Obituary for Shirley Sawyer (Edrington) Shirley May Sawyer, 79, of Finksburg, MD passed away on October 9, 2018. Born November 4, 1938 in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Emory Deray Edrington and Grace (Walker) Edrington and the devoted wife of James Sawyer. Shirley was a graduate of Mergenthaler High School class of 1956.

Before retiring in 2001, Shirley worked as the Cafeteria Manager at Sandymount Elementary School for 31 years. Shirley was an avid bird watcher and had a love of nature. She was an active member of AARP Chapter 662 of Westminster and served as treasurer for 3 years.

She was a Member of Sandymount UMC. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are her two daughters: Janice Cooke and husband Jim of Upperco, MD, Barbara Patterson and husband Tim of Severn, MD; two granddaughters: Jessica Patterson, Rebecca Patterson; two step-grandsons: James Cooke, Jr. and wife Shelly and Brad Cooke.

A visitation will be held Friday, October 12, 2018, 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm & 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm at Eline Funeral Home, 2901 Bloom Rd, Finksburg, MD. A service will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at 11:00 am at the Funeral Home Entombment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National Audubon Society – www.
