Obituary for Shirley Sandalo August Born on January 14, 1928, Shirley entered into God’s kingdom on July 2, 2018 at age 90. Predeceased by her loving husband, John August, and parents Helen and Jerry Sandalo. Survived by her sister, Peggy Sandalo Zachariasen, nephews Mark Zachariasen and Brian De Zutter, nieces Carolyn Zachariasen De Zutter and Valerie Lestoric Teti, several cousins, and dear friend Marion Lang.

A life-long resident of West Hartford, Shirley was a graduate of Hall High School and was employed by Aetna Life. She was an active member of the Air National Guard Wives at Bradley. Shirley leaves behind her many friends from her Newington Duck Pin bowling league, Elmwood Senior Center, Emanuel Lutheran Church, and from her domestic and international travels.

Calling hours will be observed from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Monday, July 9th at Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 136 South Main St., West Hartford. A committal service will be held at Fairview Cemetery, 200 Whitman Ave. , West Hartford on Tuesday, July 10th at 9:30 a.m. with a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hartford.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name be made to Camp Calumet, PO Box 236, West Ossipee, NH 03890 or Emanuel Lutheran Church, 311 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT 06106.
