OBITUARY Sidney Berkman January 27, 1925 – July 26, 2018 Sidney Berkman, 93, was born Sidney Berkman on January27, 1925 in New York City, and New York to David and Lena Berkman. He moved to OKC when he joined the Army Air Corp working as an aircraft mechanic during World War 2. There, Sidney met Marie Berkman, they were married October 6, 1945.

They had children, Diane Thomas, David Berkman, and Jonathan Berkman. After serving as a Sargent in the Army Air Corp, Sidney went to work for Western Electric in 1947 until he retired from the Lucent Technologies in 1986. Sidney attended Aviation Technology High school in New York City and graduated from Oklahoma City University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business.

Sidney was very active as a member of the Mason’s, Indian Temple Shriner’s Oriental Band, Eastern Star and his church, leading Sunday school classes and he especially enjoyed singing in the choir. After retirement, Sidney with his wife by his side, traveled across the country from coast to coast. Sidney loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Marie Berkman, his parents, David and Lena Berkman, brother, sister, Edith Berkman and daughter Diane Thomas. He will be deeply missed by his family, sons David and wife Cathy, Jonathan and wife Dea; 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
