Sister Barbara Sitko, H.M., 79, formerly Sr. M. Dolorosa, died Sunday, May 27, 2018 at McGee-Womens Hospital of UPMC, Pittsburgh. A Cleveland native, she entered the Sisters of the Humility of Mary Congregation in 1956. Sr. Barbara completed her BA in English and French graduating magna cum laude from Notre Dame College of Cleveland in 1962.

Her MA in literature in 1976 was from Bucknell University, Lewiston PA. She was awarded her PhD in rhetoric in 1990 from Carnegie-Mellon University. Sr. Barbara taught at Villa Maria High School from 1965-70 and was the first President/CEO of Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center from 2005-08.

The daughter of the late Joseph V. and Julia (Mejak) Sitko she is survived by her nephews Norbert and Joseph and their families and her sisters in the Humility of Mary Congregation with whom she shared her life for 61 years. Funeral Friday, June 1 at 10:00am at Villa Maria Chapel, Villa Maria PA. Friends may call at Villa Maria Chapel Thursday, May 31, 3:30-7pm and Friday, June 1 from 9:00-9:45 am.
