Sister M. St. Anthony Chrzanak Sister M. St. Anthony Chrzanak died peacefully on Friday, April 27, 2018 in her residence in Bryan, TX. The daughter of Casimir and Rose Chrzanak came to the convent from All Saints Parish in Minneapolis, MN in 1961. She made her first profession of religious vows in 1967 and her final vows in 1971.

Sister St. Anthony spent her 51 years of religious life serving the people of God in a variety of ministries ranging from education to business to health care. She received an A.A. degree from Lourdes College, Sylvania, OH; a B.A. from the former Mary Manse College in Toledo, OH; a M.A. in Secondary Math Education from the University of Toledo, in Toledo, OH; and a M.S.A. degree in Financial Administration for Nonprofits from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN. She taught elementary and junior high students at schools in Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota and Louisiana.

She served as the Assistant Treasurer in the business office of the Sisters in Sylvania. She became a Residential Counselor at Boys’ Hope in Louisiana, a ministry that called forth gifts and talents she didn’t know she had as she mothered the many boys who came to the facility for guidance and help. Her final ministry was at CHI St. Joseph Health in Bryan, TX where she served for over ten years, starting as a Gold Medallion/Helpline Assistant, and then transitioning to the Burleson and Bryan Manors where she continued to minister to patients, residents, family members, team members and physicians, honoring the Mission of CHI St. Joseph Health.

To know Sister St. Anthony, familiarly known as “Saint,” was to know a woman of great love and devotion for God and people. She found great satisfaction in helping others and often encouraged those she met by singing her favorite song verse, “This is the day… the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it”. She was especially close to a group of the Associates of the Sylvania Franciscans in Texas for whom she served as their Companion Sister.

“Saint” will be dearly missed by her Sisters in community as well as by her sister Judy Stelton and family and friends. She now joins her aunts, Sister Marie Bede Muskala and Sister M. Rose Angela Muskala who are deceased and were also members of the Sylvania Franciscans. There will be a Welcoming Service on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the funeral liturgy at 4:30 p.m. Private Interment will be in Porta Coeli Cemetery on the campus of the Sisters.
