Mr. Francis D. “Skip” Townsend, 73, of Dunnellon, passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2018, at the Malcom Randall VA Medical Center in Gainesville. Mr. Townsend was a native and lifelong resident of Marion County, having been born in Ocala to Francis Zimmerman Townsend and Mary Luffman Townsend August 20, 1944. He graduated from Ocala High School in 1963.

Skip, as he was known to all, proudly served his country in Viet Nam while in the US Navy. He was the former owner/operator of Skip Townsend Electric, Inc He was a member of the Friendship Masonic Lodge #53 F & AM; the Ocala Shrine Club; and the Good Ole Boys Club.

His favorite hobbies were spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, helping others, and loudly cheering for his grandchildren while watching them play various sports. His survivors include his wife of 48 years, Karen Green Townsend, his three sons Greg, Ryan, and Joshua, his sister Emily Noah, and his 5 grandchildren, Logan, Trent, Trinity, and Blaire Townsend, and Lacie Broadway. Memorial services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, June 2, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Dunnellon, with Pastor Russ Randall officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, or the Dunnellon Little League.
