Mrs. Sonia J. (Evans) Blair, 78, of Coseytown Road, Greencastle, PA went to be with the Lord Monday, March 18, 2019 in Doey’s House, Hagerstown, MD after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Born June 21, 1940 in Mount Savage, MD, she was the daughter of the late Dexter Alfred and Dorothy Josephine (Gentry) Evans. Mrs. Blair graduated from South Hagerstown High School with the Class of 1959.

She and her late husband of 52 years, Mr. Thomas E. Blair, were married March 31, 1961. They moved to Greencastle in 1966. Mr. Blair passed away January 2, 2014.

Mrs. Blair was employed as a secretary and bookkeeper for Blake Co. in Hagerstown from 1960 until 1990 and for CitiBank from 1991 until she retired in 2002. After retirement she served as the secretary and in many other capacities at Pleasant Hill United Brethren Church of Greencastle from 2003 until December of 2018. She was always an active member and enjoyed teaching the Good News Club through Child Evangelism Fellowship for 30 years.

When she found time to do so, she enjoyed reading and embroidery. Mrs. Blair enjoyed being social and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by three children, Dr. Anthony L. Blair and his wife, Carol of Lititz, PA, Pamela Blair Hoffeditz and her husband, Daryl of Fayetteville, PA and Angela M. Grove and her husband, David of Maugansville, MD; six grandchildren: Rachel (Zach) Hubbs, Alia (Josh) Husmann, Andrew Grove, Victoria (Keven) Jensen, Cameron Grove, and Elizabeth Hoffeditz; one great-granddaughter, Gracelyn Jensen; three siblings, Linda Seeley of Lynchburg, VA, Dennis Evans and his wife, Kay of Tipton, PA, and Dorothy Fulks and her husband, Charles of Falling Waters, WV; several brother and sister-in-laws on her husband’s side and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 23, 2019 in Pleasant Hill United Brethren Church, 3664 Coseytown Road, Greencastle, PA with Pastor Douglas Sandman officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill United Brethren Cemetery, adjoining the church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday evening in the Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington Street, Greencastle, PA.
