Obituary for Sonja L. Bjornstrup Sonja L. Bjornstrup of Northbrook passed away June 10, 2018. She was born in Chicago on May 1, 1938 and preceded in death by her parents Mauritz and Clara (nee Anderson) Bjornstrup. She graduated from Schurz High School in Chicago in 1956 and began her long career at Merrill Lynch in April 1957 as a secretary.
In 1970 she was registered and became a broker. As a Senior Financial Advisor and Vice President she served a broad and very loyal client base, developing lifelong friendships with many clients. She retired from Merrill Lynch in May 2013.
Sonja had many interests. She was an accomplished figure skater, travelled the world on private jets, visited Norway on many occasions and was very proud of her Norwegian heritage. She was an excellent photographer and enjoyed music playing the French horn.
A hobby she took up after a long hiatus having played the instrument in the high school band. She will be greatly missed by her many dear friends and colleagues who knew her as Sunny. A memorial service will take place at a later date.
