Gaby, 75, of Mystic, passed away unexpectedly, at home on Friday, January 4th . He was the husband of fifteen years to Amy (Bickford) Gaby. Born in New York, NY he was the son of the late Robert and Beatrice (Karas) Gaby and lived in the Mystic and Stonington area for many years.

Stan was a Professor at Mohegan Community College in Norwich for the majority of his career. He taught all of Earth Sciences, as well as being Chairman of the Outing Club for the college. He orchestrated camping trips as classes to also teach Geology and Oceanography to his students.

He will be remembered as a charismatic and humorous professor who combined hands-on learning. He was extremely talented as a prolific artist in watercolors and oil painting, sculpture and an avid photographer. His artistic talents afforded the opportunity to be a part of many Art Exhibitions and local Art galleries.

Stan will be missed by his loving family, friends and students. After retiring from teaching in 1996, he remained active teaching summer school courses for several years. In addition to his wife, he leaves his two sons, Ehryn Gaby (Danielle) of Colchester, CT and Eric Gaby (Kevin Hill) of West Des Moines, IA; his two daughters, Robin Leclerc (Juss) of Narragansett, RI and Michelle Gaby, of West Des Moines, IA; brother, Roger Gaby of Deltaville, VA; and three grandchildren, Asher Gaby, Alec Leclerc and Gabrielle Leclerc.

His family will receive relatives and friends at the Mystic Funeral Home on Rt. 1 in Mystic on Monday, January 14th from 9am-11am followed by a celebration of his life at 11:00 am at the funeral home. His burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery, in Mystic following the service.
