Stanley Kucharczyk, 71, of Mattoon and formerly of Mahomet, died on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. There will be a funeral service on Saturday, July 28 at 10:00 am at Blair-Owens Funeral Home, 102 E. Dunbar, Mahomet. The visitation will be one hour prior to the service (9-10am) at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign and full military honors will be accorded. Stanley was born on Feb. 16, 1947 in Lubeck, Germany, a son of Antoni and Martha (Yakimenko) Kucharczyk.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Owens of Mattoon; his mother, Martha; a daughter, Amy (Jonathan) Gray of Champaign; grandson, Zachary Jones; 2 sisters, Jan Thompson of Dallas, TX and Linda (Kent) Sinkular of Mahomet and 1 brother, Zip (Sharon) Kucharczyk of Gibson City. Stanley was preceded in death by his father, Antoni; 3 brothers, Genick, Reggie and Mike and 1 brother-in-law (who was also one of his best friends), Neal Thompson. He honorably served in the US Army and was a proud Vietnam Veteran.

Stanley worked as a manager at Jerry’s IGA in Champaign for many years and most recently managed the Mattoon Wal-Mart. Stanley loved to fish and was an avid Chicago Bears and Illini fan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (262 Danny Thomas Pl.
