Stephen Charles “Steve” Green, 72, of Duncan, SC, died Thursday, January 10, 2019 at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born March 30, 1946 in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Charlie Hosey and Lorene Marr Green and stepson of Mary Wilson Green. A U. S. Air Force veteran and 1972 graduate of the East Tennessee State University, Mr. Green was a sales representative with Supply Works, formerly known as Trayco Inc. of the Carolinas.

He was a member of Wellford Baptist Church. Stephen helped found the AAU Spirit Baseball Team in South Carolina, in which his passion was to coach basketball and baseball in the church leagues as well as the American Leagues. He loved to travel as much as possible and was a man of character and loved people.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy Walker Green of the home; sons, Nathan Green and girlfriend, Nicole Burrows of Lyman, SC, Seth Green and girlfriend, Amanda King of Duncan, SC; a granddaughter, Madelyn Green; his sisters, Brenda Pender (Lemuel) of Spartanburg, SC, Judy Gregory (Gary) of Laurens, SC, Neva Wilkie (Frank) of Spartanburg, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews. Steve was also survived by his loving mother in law, Lura Williams Walker. Along with his parents, he was also predeceased by an infant brother, Jeffrey Green.

Visitation will be at 1:30 – 2:15 PM Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral service will be at 2:30 PM at the chapel, conducted by Dr. Carl Poole. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
