Stephen’s Obituary Stephen R. ‘Steve’ Glover, age 74, Joplin, passed away at 2:40 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2019 at Freeman West Hospital after a sudden illness. Steve was born August 19, 1944 in Rogers, Arkansas to the late Toney Glover and Lorene Wilson Glover and had lived in the Joplin area most of his life. Steve had worked for the City of Carl Junction for several years, serving as chief of police.

He then worked for the United States Postal Service, retiring after twelve years of service. Steve was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Carl Junction Lodge #549, AF & AM; Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Temple, Springfield and the Joplin Elk’s Lodge #501.

Steve had many friends and will be missed by all who knew him. He married Mary McDonald on July 2, 1973 in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives at the home.

Additional survivors include a son, Toney Glover and his wife, Lisa, Webb City; two brothers, Jerry Glover, Carl Junction, Richard Glover, Joplin; a sister, Barbara Selsor, Carl Junction; and a grandson, Alex Glover. In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by a grandson, Lucas Glover. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
