Steven “Beaver” W. Hlinsky, age 46, of Forada, died unexpectedly on Sunday, May 13, 2018, at his son’s home in Forada. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 19, 2018, at the Alexandria Covenant Church with Pastor Trinity Opp officiating. Interment will be at Hudson Cemetery, Hudson Township.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m., Friday, at the Lind Family Funeral Home in Alexandria and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Steven “Beaver” William Hlinsky was born on February 22, 1972, to Richard and Dorothy (Marquette) Hlinsky in Alexandria. He was baptized and confirmed at the St. Mary’s Church in Alexandria.

Beaver attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, Washington School and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1990. While growing up, Beaver helped on the family farm. He continued to farm while attending Alexandria Technical College, however, after a year of schooling, Beaver decided to return full time to farming.

Beaver was a dedicated member of the Forada Fire Department and First Responders for 28 years, and was currently serving as the Assistant Chief. While on the fire department, he was the gambling manager for the Forada Relief Association for the past 17 years. He also was a current board member of the ASC and did snow removal for Forada for many years.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Church. He enjoyed golfing and achieved a rare albatross (hole-in-one on a par-4) last year at Hardwood Hills Course. Beaver also enjoyed snowmobiling and hunting.

Beaver’s true loves were his children and farming. He was especially excited to combine the two when his son joined him on the farm in 2013. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Hlinsky; and grandparents, Clifford and Helen Marquette and Henry and Rose Hlinsky.

Beaver is survived by his son, Dominic (Kelli) Hlinsky of Forada; daughter, Abby Hlinsky of Forada; mother, Dorothy Hlinsky of Forada; two brothers, Allan (Angie Deming) Hlinsky of Albertville and Jon (Karmen) Hlinsky of Holmes City; uncle and aunt, Frank and Irene Pronek of Alexandria; two sisters-in-law, Patty (Steven) Suchy of Alexandria and Christy (Bruce) Hess of Luverne; brother-in-law, James (Cristal) Andrews of California; special family friend, Travis Gease of Forada; co-pilot, Ollie the Goldendoodle; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, family and many friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Travis Gease, Bob Steidl, Kevin Guenther, Elli Radil, Ed Piekarski and Lyn Carlson.
