On July 18, 2018 Steven R. Bubb age 68, peacefully entered his heavenly home after a courageous ten year battle with cancer. Steve was born March 21, 1950 in Plymouth. He was the son of the late Selby and Bernice (Heincke) Bubb.

Steve attended grade school at St. John Lutheran. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1968 and Lakeshore Technical College in 1970 earning an associate degree in marketing. Steve worked at various auto dealerships as a car salesman, at Quality State Oil Company and for over thirty years at the Plymouth Street Department before retiring in 2015.

Steve was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church where he was a life-long member. On October 19, 1974 he married Karen Gierke at Bethlehem UCC Church in Kiel. Steve loved his Lord and faithfully served as an usher at church for 54 years.

One could usually find him in the garage cleaning one of his cars or getting the ’67 Camaro ready for a car show. He enjoyed reading automotive magazines, attending stock car races, watching car shows on TV, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Steve is survived by his loving wife Karen; two sons, Aaron (Allyson) Bubb of Hubertus and their children (Amita and Ansel) and Bradley (Melissa) Bubb of Brementon, WA and their children (Teagan, Peyton and Scott); one sister Wendy Backhaus, Englewood, FL; two sisters in law: Alice Achter, Kiel and Cheryl (Eugene) Cain of Aurora, MN; numerous nephews; a niece and many special friends who offered their love and support to the family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Selby and Bernice Bubb; in laws, Raymond and Lila Gierke; brother in law, John Achter and nephew, Brian Backhaus. Steve will be greatly missed by his family. We are saddened to see him leave but rejoice that he is now home with Jesus.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date per Steve’s wishes. A memorial fund has been established for St. John Lutheran Church and the Multiple Myeloma Foundation in Steve’s name. The family wishes to thank the medical team at Vince Lombardi Cancer Center, the staff at Sharon S. Richardson, Pastor Meador, and Pastor Schultz for their compassion, care, love and support.
