A Celebration of Life for Steven R. “Sluggo” Slaga, 37, Norfolk, will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Home for Funerals Chapel on Georgia Avenue with visitation an hour prior to service. Reverend Ray Wilke will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.

Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements. He passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Steve was born August 6, 1981 to his parents James Slaga and Cynthia Gibson in Fremont, Nebraska.

He graduated from Norfolk Senior High School. Steven worked at Walmart for many years and was currently employed at Eagle Distributing. He was an avid Husker and Yankees fan.

In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, tinkering on his truck, and playing shuffleboard. He was a member of the Northeast Nebraska Shuffleboard League. Steve was a master chef on the grill.

There was never a dull moment when “Sluggo” was around. He will always be remembered for his lucky streaks. He is survived by his parents, special friend Amber of Norfolk, brothers Jonathan “Johnny” (Bridget) and Nicholas both of Omaha, two nieces Emma and Cassidy, and cousins Mark, Jamie and Stacy of Phoenix, AZ and Jodi and Jill of Plano, TX.

Steven was preceded in death by grandparents. Memorials requested to the family for a later designation. There’s still time to send flowers to the Visitation at the Home for Funerals Chapel from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM on February 9, 2019.
