Obituary for Susan Linn Susan LaRue Arnold Linn passed to the eternal life of Our Lord on July 1, 2018. She was born in Toledo, Ohio and grew up in Winter Haven, Florida. She is survived by her two sons, Taylor James Chancellor Linn and James Randolph Linn III; sister, Deborah Leigh Arnold Taylor, brother-in-law Hugh Vernon Taylor; and fiance’, Joseph M Walter, Jr. Preceded in passing away are her parents, Melvin James and Joan (Flanagan) Arnold of Winter Haven, Florida.

She graduated from St. Joseph School, Winter Haven, Florida and Santa Fe Catholic High School, Lakeland, Florida. She graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science Degree with Honors in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, 1972. She was a member of Eta Rho Pi Honor Society.

She obtained postgraduate certification in Geriatric Counseling from the University of Miami School of Medicine, Miami, Florida in 1975. She obtained State of Alabama High School Teacher and Counseling Certifications, 1973. After graduation, she began her counseling career in Huntsville, Alabama at the Huntsville-Madison County Mental Health Center as a state certified counselor in the Outpatient Center and Drug Treatment Services.

She was state psychologist at North Alabama Regional Hospital in Decatur. Later, she owned a counseling clinic in Huntsville, AL. When she married in 1981, she began working in her husband’s manufacturing/importing business (Floral Design, Inc) in Arab, Alabama.

Soon they started a company (and later other companies) in Hong Kong and worked in several Asian countries-manufacturing and exporting to countries around the world. They continued these businesses until retirement in 2009. Throughout the years she served on several organizational boards.

For 25 years, she served North Alabama International Trade Association as a board member and president for 2 terms. Up to the present time she was on the Senior Advisory Council for NAITA. She served on the U.S. Export Council under the appointment of President Ronald Reagan and President George H.W. Bush.

She was an alumnus of Alabama Leadership, on the Arab Planning Commission for 12 years, Foundation board member for Alabama Archives and History Museum, Montgomery, and Huntsville Museum Art, Huntsville, St. Bernard Abbey Board of Directors, Cullman, AL. , a member of Arab Mothers’ Club #1, a board member of Mountain Valley Arts Council, CAJA, member of Arab Methodist Church and Hope Sunday School Class all for several years each. Her devotion was to her family and found joy raising her sons and celebrating their lives.

When she retired, time allowed her to devote more time to painting both plein aire and in her studio. She also traveled around the country and world studying oil and watercolor painting. She enjoyed life and gave all she had to everything she committed.
